Hey! I’m Ms Mavy, the founder of Afroplug. I’d like to share my personal journey and insights from my friends in the DJ producer community, hoping it might help someone out there.
Starting with almost no followers on SoundCloud, here’s the strategy I used to organically grow to 10,000 followers. It all centered around engagement, remixes, and collaborations.
1. Maximizing Social Media Use
In this era my social media presence by leveraging Youtube, Instagram, TikTok, Twitter, and Facebook to share my music, teasers, and snippets of my daily life. Creating an authentic connection with my audience was crucial, with visual platforms like Instagram and TikTok proving particularly effective.
But personally, I started years ago, and even if I’m very a social person, I’m really introvert : so for me it wasn’t social media but focus on finding my sound and improving my beats quality at first.
2. Consistent Release Schedule
Consistency is key in the music industry. I committed to releasing new music regularly, whether singles, EPs, or collaborations. This kept my existing audience engaged and attracted new listeners who appreciated the steady flow of fresh content.
Actually, I Don’t release contents regularly, sometimes one times per year but when I release, it’s the best work I’ve ever done in the year.
3. Engaging with Fans
Engagement is more than just posting content; it’s about interaction. You have to make it a point to respond to comments, messages, and create content based on fan requests. Live streams and Q&A sessions helped build a loyal community.
4. Leveraging SoundCloud Features
I used tags effectively, download gates and participated in communities related to my genre. Engaging with the content of other artists created a reciprocal relationship that expanded my reach.
Best Download Gates for increasing engagements on Your Releases on Soundcloud are Hyppeddit and My Favorite I always use : Pumpyoursound
5. Collaborations and Networking
Collaborating with other artists was a game-changer. By working with musicians who had their own following, I tapped into their audience base and expanded my reach. Networking with producers, DJs, and influencers also opened doors to new opportunities : DJ Gigs, Studio Sessions & More.
6. Creating Remixes
I gained exposure by creating remixes of popular tracks within my genre. These remixes attracted fans of the original songs and increased my visibility on SoundCloud.
7. Leveraging SoundCloud Networks
I contacted powerful SoundCloud channels that collaborate with artists in my niche, asking for features or to create exclusive tracks. This helped me tap into their established audiences.
8. Free Remix Packs on Bandcamp
I released free remix packs on Bandcamp to attract more followers. Offering valuable content for free drew listeners to my SoundCloud and built a sense of community.
9. Remixing Classic and Popular Songs
I remixed classic public domain songs and current hit songs. These familiar tracks drew in listeners searching for those songs, and my unique take helped me stand out.
10. Investing in Quality Production
Quality matters. I invested in professional production, mixing, and mastering to ensure my music sounded polished. High-quality tracks are more likely to be shared and reposted, contributing to organic growth.

Conclusion
Reaching 10,000 followers on SoundCloud with no paid ads required a multifaceted approach. By maximizing social media use, maintaining a consistent release schedule, engaging with fans, leveraging SoundCloud features, creating remixes, collaborating with other artists, contacting powerful SoundCloud channels, releasing free remix packs, and remixing well-known songs, I built a substantial and dedicated following. This strategy can serve as a roadmap for other aspiring artists looking to grow their presence on SoundCloud organically.
