However, in early 2019, the company could see through their algorithms that Old Town Road was performing extremely well, so they offered the artist a deal. Later, Lil Nas X decided to sign a deal with Columbia Records.
The song Old Town Road, featuring Billy Ray Cyrus, ended up becoming one of the most treasured songs in Billboard Hot 100 history, as it spent an unprecedented 19 weeks at #1.

- Digital Music Distribution
- Music Licensing
They provide musicians and other rights holders with the opportunity to distribute, sell, and stream their music through digital Music stores such as Apple, Spotify, Amazon Music, Tidal Beatport and many more.
The data-driven royalty advancement service Fast Forward, which officially launched in April 2019, uses machine learning to calculate and offer users up to 6 months of their upcoming royalties through the Amuse smartphone App.
The company also operates in Music licensing : from its distribution service, the company has access to consumer data on how its users’ music is streamed and purchased, as well as the demographics of each artist’s audience.
Amuse leverages this data to identify emerging talent and offer licensing deals for selected artists.
Wait…Where does streaming come from?
Streaming , refers to a principle used mainly for sending an audio or video stream “live” or slightly delayed.
Widely used on the Internet and cell phone networks, streaming allows an audio or video stream (in the case of video-on-demand) to be played as it is broadcast. It is thus opposed to the broadcasting by downloading files which requires to recover the whole data of a song or a video extract before being able to listen to it or to watch it.
Audio and video streaming are distinguished from radio and television broadcasting by their technical characteristics : strictly speaking, streaming is still a download because there is an exchange of raw data between a client and a server, but the storage is temporary and does not appear directly as a file on the recipient’s hard drive. Data is downloaded continuously into RAM, parsed on the fly by the computer or smartphone and quickly transferred to a screen or media player (for display), then replaced with new data.
Streaming audio or video streams are usually provided by platforms such as Netflix, Amazon Prime Video, Hulu, Apple Music, Spotify that offer movies, series (video on demand) or music tracks and Podcasts.
